How can you learn new words and keep remembering them?

I'm having touch time remembering new Dutch verbs and vocabularies. Whenever I learn a new words, some are easier to remember than others, but some I forget no matter how many time I hear that word.

Then I remembered that as a child, whenever I learned new Kanji, the first thing I did was to write the new character over and over again in one notebook. So I've decided to get a notebook, and write down a new vocabularies and verbs many time to put them into my brain. I'll post how this method worked in a few month.
